Devotional Reading
Generations of Israelites looked forward to the coming of the Messiah. The permanence and eternal nature of His reign was greatly anticipated and a welcome reprieve from the inconsistent and often wicked kings they were used to.
When Mary sings of the future generations that would receive the Messiah’s mercy, she is filled with joy. She is holding the long-expected king in her belly, and one day He would hold the government on His shoulders.
